Who can join the CWU?

Generally, workers employed permanently or temporarily by, and independant contracters performing work on behalf of, workers across Australia’s postal, telecommunications & broadband, call centre, information technology and pay-tv industries are eligible to become members of the CWU.

CWU State Branches also offer associate membership to members formally employed within our industries, and to those currently seeking work within our industries.

The true cost of membership

CWU membership is administered by autonomous State Branches and contributions generally costs less than a cup of coffee, per day.

Contributions are 100% tax deductible.

Furthermore, the majority of Branches offer additional value benefits including discounted groceries, fuel, entertainment, leisure and travel and free journey cover income protection insurance, ambulance transport and mortality benefits.

These additional benefits generally allow CWU members to save up to $3761, without changing spending habits – far exceeding the cost of membership, making membership essentially free.
